Year 5 Maguire-Montague Nature Matters

10th Mar 2016

On the 8th of March, Mrs Hall came in to ST. Bride’s 5M to talk about nature and how it’s important to look after it.

First of all, Mrs Hall decided to talk about where most of the world’s water came from. Then she handed out pictures of food and drinks and talked about where they came from, how they made them and what was in them.

Secondly, we went out to the school garden in key stage1 and looked at the surroundings. Then we looked at the insects and their habitats.

After that we each took a spot in the garden and drew our surroundings with a clipboard and pen, imagining the view from a tiny creature. Next we took some blind folds and blindfolded each other and each touched a part of a tree and then tried to touch the same part of the tree with our eyes open. It was really fun!

Finally we took some sticky paper and we went around the garden looking for materials to make some pictures of what we imagined. Most people did abstract but some people did some great realistic pictures too.   It was a great day, thank you Ulster Wildlife!
