P1 Wynne Visit Planetarium

23rd Feb 2017

On Thursday 23rd February, we went on our school trip to the Armagh Planetarium. We put on our high visibility jackets and got onto a big coach. It was a long journey but we sang songs about Space and had great fun! When we arrived we met Sam and Heather. They took us to make our very own rockets! We worked in groups and designed the wings and the top of our rockets. They were very colourful!! The adults then helped us to attach the wings and top to the bottle, which was the body of the rocket. We went outside and blasted off our very own rockets! We counted down each time, 3, 2, 1, blast off! Then we went to the theatre, it was like the cinema but we had to look up! We saw the whole solar system, the sun and moon and stars and the planets. We watched a movie, ‘The Perfect Little Planet.’ Then we went on a virtual rollercoaster which was so much fun! We had a chat with Heather about astronauts and talked about going to space. Lots of us want to be astronauts when we grow up! We had a super day, it was so exciting that lots of us fell asleep on the bus home, even some parents!!
