P1 Merron - Rhyming

11th Oct 2017

We will be looking at rhyming in Primary 1 a lot. We have been exploring Nursery Rhymes and seeing if we can spot/hear the rhymes. e.g. in 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star'; star and are, high and sky etc.

In the pictures attached you can see we have been using pictures to match rhymes. e.g. hat and cat, ring and king, tree and bee, leg and peg. We are starting to hear rhymes in words and we all know that we need to listen to the end of the word to find a rhyming sound.

We have also been making silly rhymes with made up words e.g. Mrs Merron rhymes with Mrs Herron. Rosa rhymes with hosa.

You could try some silly rhymes at home with your name or try to spot some rhymes using thumbs up or down. Examples below.

Bee and tree (thumbs up)

arm and alligator (thumbs down)

hair and bear (thumbs up)

boat and coat (thumbs up)

Good luck with your rhyming at home :)
