Yr 6 Phetpraphai's Museum Visit

29th Sep 2017

Year 6 Phetpraphai went to the Ulster Museum for a lesson on the Vikings. They loved getting out of school. They got to dress up as rich and poor people from Viking Society. Erin dressed up as a rich lady. She was wearing a long fabric dress held together with a metal brooch. Alex and Elizabeth dressed as poor Irish people. They learnt that most Irish people built earth walls to protect themselves from the Vikings. The monks built more walls to protect themselves. They had the church in the middle of the settlement as this was the most important place to them. The monks had a scriptorium where they wrote beautiful scripts including the Book of Kells. They put thin gold leaf on the pages to decorate the most important pages. Yr. 6 got to hold lots of weapons but they were not allowed to use them! They thought it was a great trip.
