Year 7 Medics in the Primary School

Three weeks ago a Queen’s University medical student named Sarah began teaching us about our body. We all are finding this to be an amazing and interesting subject. So far Sarah has taught us about the systems in the human body and about all of the muscles in our bodies.

These lessons have been very informative and have encouraged many of our class to consider becoming a doctor. Some people are even thinking about becoming vets to help animals.

In these lessons we have learned through games. In our lesson on muscles we played a game called ‘pin the muscle’. One person from each table stood in front of their table. Each group was given ten cards with muscle names written on them. After everyone had their cards, on the count of three we had to lift up the muscles and, using sellotape, attach them to the person in what they thought were the right places. After this Sarah checked our muscles were in the right places and the top 3 people had to answer a question each. However everyone answered their questions correctly so we had to answer a tie-breaker question. The first person with their hand up and a correct answer was the winner. We also do lots of quizzes where it is boys against girls!

We all really enjoy our medic lessons and can’t wait until our next one!
