To celebrate National Poetry Day, the children watched a performance of ‘Talking Turkeys’ by poet Benjamin Zephaniah. We discussed how and why the poem is written, the themes of the poem, the accent used and why it was both funny and serious. The children then performed the poem using various accents to change the impact.
