P4 McMahon have been engaging in fun active maths using our outdoor playground to learn about directions. We used the words forward,right and left and considered right angle turns and straight line paths. The children discovered the importance of listening,giving exact measurements and considering how to decide if a turn is to the right or left. Great questions and peer support guided learning.
We also learnt about m and cm using measuring tapes by working in pairs and considering starting at 0cm on our tape and keeping the tape taut. Mrs McMahon was very impressed with all the curious questions and even better the answers which the children came up with themselves. Wonderful learning all round ?
