St. Bride's PS Welcomes Claire Kelly from Trócaire
Mrs Claire Kelly who works for Trócaire visited St. Bride's PS to today to host two assemblies for KS1 and KS2. She told the pupils about her recent trip to Rwanda where she met Uwamahoro and her family who are pictured on the Trócaire box.
Mrs Kelly explained how the floods (due to global warming) are ruining people's homes and washing away their land.
Mrs Kelly explained how St Brides can play an important part in changing the lives of families like Uwamahoro’s. Even small amounts can do so much….
£20: Could help a family cover school fees, books and community health insurance
£50: Could provide a pig – giving a family manure for crops and piglets to sell
£100: Could provide a 2,500-litre water tank, storing clean water through dry and wet seasons
£200: Could buy land for a family to farm, so they can grow food year after year.
£2500: Could re-build a family home like Uwamahoro’s and her neighbours
Mrs Kelly praised the pupils thanking them for their fundraising in the past and for their ongoing enthusiasm and support in 2026.
We would like to thanks Mrs Kelly for her very moving presentation which made us realise how lucky we are.
