Our class took part in the live 'National Numeracy Day Assembly' which involved logging in to a National maths session based on budgeting and making decisions about organising a picnic.
After,the children organised their own picnic based on a 'Shopping for a picnic' template provided. Questions like 'How much is..?', 'How many people...?', were heard across the classroom. Comments like 'No, 2 apples because they're only 20p' and 'Oh yes, we did spend £1.20' filled the classroom. A great activity about planning and budgeting for a picnic calculating amounts of money and calculating change.
In the afternoon,we created 'The Magic of 10' posters to assist ' Zyphor', an alien from far, far away, in understanding the number 10.
