P2 Cunningham Mathematicians

15th Nov 2017

We have been working very hard on 3D shapes this week in P2. We are confident in naming the shapes and have enjoyed choosing 3D shapes from our class feely box. Now we are focusing on identifying the properties of 3D shapes. These are some of our follow up activities during task time this week.

Yellow Tigers experimented with the 3D shapes to see if they can or cannot roll. We decided that a sphere and a cylinder definitely can roll and a cube and cuboid cannot.

Red koalas and Green Frogs were fantastic problem solvers! They used dominoes to find different ways to make a number.

Orange Fish created their own subtraction sums by placing the counter leaves on the trees. Their partners then had to solve the sums!

Blue Birds played a 'Pass the bag' shape game.

Have a look around your home and see what 3D shapes you can find. Here are some clues;

I have no flat areas. I can roll. You can kick me. I am a ______

I have a circle base, a point and you may wear me on your head at a party. I am a _____

I have 6 square faces. If you look in your freezer you might find me. I make things cold. I am a ______

I have two circle bases. If you look in your kitchen you may finds lots of tin cans made from me. I am a _______

Happy Hunting!
