P1 Wynne Planetarium Trip

11th Feb 2019

On Monday, we arrived in school earlier than normal, even before the bell. We had to get ready to go on our school trip! When we were all ready to go, we got onto a big coach! We put our seatbelts on and drove to the Armagh Planetarium!! We were so excited because we have been learning so much about Space and all the planets in our solar system!!

When we arrived, we had our snack. Then we went into the theatre, it was a bit like a cinema but we had to look up! It was very dark and looked like the night sky. The stars and moon were moving. We watched two stories, one was about a little yellow star and the other was about Astronaut George, who lived on earth, and his adventures to try to find another planet that we could live on. Do you think he found another planet that had water to drink, air to breath and friends to be made like earth? Before we left the theatre we went on a rollercoaster!! It wasn't a real one - our seats didn't even more, but at times it really felt like a real one!!

After we had had our lunch, we went downstairs and got to make rockets. We had to work as a team to decorate and colour the different parts of the rocket, the wings and the cone that went on top to help it fly. Then we had to stick them on to the rocket!! They looked great. We went outside with our rockets and put the rocket fuel (water) in them. Then we counted down, 3...2...1...blast off as we watched the rockets we had made blast off into the sky!!

Once we had blasted off all of our rockets, we headed back to get on the bus! The journey home was a little bit quieter than it was on the way but still plenty of chat, games and singing!

We had a fabulous day at the Planetarium and loved showing off all we knew about Space and the planets!!
