School Council Minutes

13th Jun 2023

Minutes

Tue 13/06/23

The school council had its June meeting today and the following points on the agenda were discussed. As we are your voice the school council can make your views known so that we can have a say in the in the writing, planning and implementation of the new School Development Plan

The councillors filled in a questionnaire about the new school development plan. Their opinions were sought on topics ranging from the school building to curriculum. The council discussed the ongoing traffic and parking issues. Council has written to Mr Gary Mc Geown Belfast City Council, Ms Kate Nicholl MLA and Ms Claire Hanna MP asking for some help in finding a solution to this issue. Council have also written to the local PSNI traffic branch to see if they can help as well. The councillors have received complaints from pupils in Ashleigh and Derryvolgie about the cleaning and the state of the toilets on both sites. Council were wondering if a rota of inspection can be put up in these areas so that they are checked on a regular basis and toilet rolls replenished etc.

It's been a good year for the council with trips to Belfast City Hall & Stormont. Ms Hunter has been listening to and acting on feedback from the pupils. We look forward to a new and exciting school year in Sept. 2023.

The school council wishes Miss Meehan, Mr Fee and the fabulous Mrs Holland good health and all the very best for their retirements.
