Year 5 Kennedy- Sunflowers

14th Sep 2017

Today we had art with Mrs Harrigan. We were drawing line drawings of sunflowers in a vase. Mrs Harrigan asked us if we knew a famous painter who had painted sunflowers. We all knew it was Van Gogh. Mrs Harrigan told us the stems needed to be curved and not straight up. She said the petals could be long and short because they were not all the same size. She told us that the lines for the vase when we were drawing them needed to be slanted. Mrs Harrigan encouraged us to observe the vase and flowers closely so we could see all the detail especially the colour in the centre of the flowers.

We really enjoyed drawing today and are looking forward to painting next week.
