St. Brigid's GAC Skills Demonstration

21st Apr 2016
St. Brigid's GAC Skills Demonstration

Yesterday we hosted a Gaelic demonstration in the assembly hall for Year 1 -7 pupils. Peter, Frank and Tracey, representatives from the  St. Brigid's Club, came to talk to the children about Gaelic football and hurling. They want to encourage pupils to join St. Brigid's or members to bring a friend to the club.

Eight  members of our school Gaelic and hurling teams showcased their skills, showing everyone how to toe tap, catch a high ball, etc. They also showed off the silverware they had won this year including the much talked about Raffo Cup.

Frank and Peter invited the children to join Fun Sunday which is Gaelic football and hurling  on a Sunday morning for Year 1 to 7 pupils at Harlequins. They also told the girls and boys about the “Design a crest competition” and told them about the great prizes which can be won.

It was lovely to welcome back to the school Jack Dowling, a former pupil who met his Year 1 teacher Miss Rogers and his Year 3 teacher Mrs Quinn. Jack told the pupils how he loves playing Gaelic and how when going to work he has a smile on his face as he knows he will be playing football after work. He told  the children about the great friendships he has made through Gaelic and how he loves playing for the club and Co. Antrim. Jack is a great ambassador for the sport.

The club also made a surprise presentation to Miss Rogers for her outstanding participation in "Strictly Brid".

We would like to thank Peter, Tracey, Jack and the wonderful Frank for coming to the school and inviting us all to join St. Brigid’s GAC. We would also like to thank the club for supporting Gaelic games in the school.
